Once the accreditation process has been completed, quality assurance demands constant attention. Laboratories must keep their quality system operational, and improve it further. In addition, they are obliged to participate regularly in quality control programmes. These are organised by various national professional organisations. The laboratory is also required to participate in visitations by its own professional associations.
Every four years, CCKL will again verify whether a laboratory still complies with the requirements as stated in the accreditation. At the the end of the second year in every cyclus a control assessment is performed. It is possible that a laboratory will take the opportunity of reassessment to submit extra fields of work and processes for accreditation. That is perfectly acceptable. CCKL will then assess these in the same way as all other first accreditations. For the fields of work that were previously accredited, only a reassessment will take place.
